- Shame, are you awake? - The boy asked his new friend. - I never sleep. I'm afraid to sleep, in case I never wake up again. How will people live without me? - But I didn’t know you for six whole years! – the baby got up in bed and dangled his legs from the top tier of the bed. It was completely dark in the children's room. The baby did not like to sleep by the light of a night lamp. He was attracted by the outlines of objects. Mysterious shadows and reflections of street lamps gave rise to new and new fantasies in his imagination. You must remember, good reader, our heroes from the fairy tale “Once Upon a Time There Was a Shame.” The evil nanny locked the Baby in a dark closet because he was crying. The boy met a humble creature who lived behind boxes of junk named Shame. And since then they became good friends. “That was a completely different time and you were little,” answered Shame. “What else are you afraid of?” – asked the Boy. “I’m not afraid of anything anymore.” Because I know what it is, my Fear. Besides, I am ashamed to be afraid, because there is nothing to be afraid of. - Tell me what he looks like. And where does he live? And why do all people have Fear, but I don’t? And Shame told the Boy that to meet Fear, it is enough to depict what you are afraid of. - Each person has his own fear, his own. Fear is different, and therefore everyone presents it in their own way. For example, you can draw it on paper to get an idea of what it looks like. Now go to sleep, tomorrow you will take your pencils and your fear will be born. The baby obediently lay down, hugged his beloved dog Droplet and fell asleep sweetly. The next morning the Boy and Shame made themselves comfortable at the desk that stood in the nursery. The kid laid out the album on the table and got to work. He saw fear as a huge, gigantic and careless monster. The kid worked slowly, with special diligence, constantly raising his eyes to the sky. The size of a full sheet of paper loomed as a spherical, hairy-striped creature, with airplane wings instead of arms. They stuck out on the sides of his thick belly. Helical horns adorned its head, the monster had no neck, and huge fangs protruded from its mouth. The head was square and slightly tilted to the side. The legs were short paws with long claws, like those of a bear. - And the eyes? Where are his eyes? – asked Shame, because he was very worried. He also wanted to get to know Fear. - What should they be like? – Raising his blond head, the Kid thought out loud. “Mom always says that fear has big eyes.” Actually, I'm in no hurry to finish drawing. Because as soon as I finish, I will meet the one I came up with. And he turns out kind of ridiculous! “You know, but I like him,” Shame answered timidly, hiding his tiny hands behind his back. “Your Yudo is amusing, as if he was made in a toy factory from extra parts,” he said, and thick paint flooded his face. “Let me finish drawing his eyes, because that’s all I’m afraid of,” said Shame. “Of course!” I’ll just finish drawing him a bag, like Kanga’s, so he can hide his secrets there. The kid finished and handed over the pencils. Shame chose black. Puffing and sweating from exertion, he made two huge, closely spaced circles. The eyes looked like vinyl records, with sparse eyelashes sticking out around them. “I just wanted to depict eyes,” Shame repeated and the picture was finished. The artists looked at their creation, and the creation looked from the picture at their frozen friends. Curiosity and surprise shone in Fear's eyes. He slowly moved them from side to side, as if looking around. Finally he raised his right hand-wing and said in a cheerful voice - Hello! - Hello! – the Boy answered, looking at his Fear. - How scary you are, Fear! And I'm not afraid of you. And your huge eyes... But Fear did not let him finish. - How I like them! Thank you for drawing these for me! – he interjected with a cheerful smile and burst into the room with all his absurdity. “Only with my huge eyes can I see absolutely everything around me.” Now it will be easy for me to move in the dark. And they will help you see the real.
