What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychotherapist? Psychologists (depending on their specialization) are engaged in solving situational problems and can only conduct consulting work. Specialists with a higher education diploma in a relevant specialty can call themselves psychologists. Psychologists do not have the right to prescribe medications, make diagnoses, or engage in psychotherapy without appropriate psychotherapeutic education. They also do not have the right to work with mental pathologies. As a rule, ordinary people who have certain psychological difficulties in everyday life, as well as those who set themselves the goal of further development of themselves as individuals, turn to a professional psychologist for psychological help. Each person who comes to a psychologist in search of psychological support initially does not act as a client, but rather as an expert. He looks carefully at his future therapist and asks the questions: “Will I be able to trust my secrets to this person? Will I be able to accept psychological help from this specialist? How competent is he? Is he decent? In the process of psychological counseling, I proceed from the fact that my guest and I have equal rights in our relationship. I do not believe that I have any special superiority over my client. I can only be more competent in professional matters. This is due to my knowledge and experience. The main task of psychological counseling is to provide psychological assistance, i.e. helping people understand what is happening to them and solve emotional and interpersonal problems. The final result of their interaction directly depends on the quality of the relationship between the psychologist and his client. I consider sincere and respectful acceptance of you and your problems to be the basis of successful individual and family counseling. In my work I rely on the healthy sides of the personality. I help to feel and reveal the rich inner potential inherent in each of us. I am sure that every person himself is capable of choosing the right direction for his development. This knowledge is present in his subconscious. My task as a professional psychologist is to help a person find HIS choice. The basis of psychological consultation is complete confidentiality. How to choose a psychologist? Pay attention to three things in descending order: A subjective feeling of very rapid improvement. A clear and open strategy and tactics for your treatment. Advice from friends. Next, you can continue your choice of a psychologist via the Internet. At the same time, answering questions for yourself: - what age should a specialist be? - with whom would I like to share my problem - a man or a woman? - how to choose your psychologist: with your mind or your heart?
