From the author: Dear readers, this is one of the chapters of my book “Image in a white coat. Catch luck by the tail.” In this chapter I will talk about the wrapper (the external image), in the previous chapter I talked about the internal components of the image, about the filling of each of us (You can find previous articles on this resource). In the next article I will try to examine the phenomenon of attractiveness and its components. I think you will agree that you can learn a lot about a person just by looking at him. And it's not just about intuition. Others tend to associate appearance and behavior style with social status and income level. As a doctor, I will say more, the level of health is also read at the first meeting. By skin color, look, hair shine, gait, posture and other microsigns, we feel how healthy and capable a person is. This is very important both in business relationships and in personal ones; your success largely depends on how adequate you look to the situation. So, how we look is how we are perceived, appearance is a business card. Have you noticed such an interesting thing: in stores they serve people dressed differently in different ways? And it’s not even a matter of the notorious “dress code”, when in an expensive boutique the seller assesses your solvency with a glance (although this is very unprofessional and in really worthy boutiques there is no such thing). I’m talking now about some simple grocery store. It would seem paradoxical, but despite the fact that a well-dressed person will give exactly the same amount of money for a certain product as a poorly dressed person, he will receive a definitely larger dose of attention and respect. Call it what you want: injustice or servility of the staff, but I I would advise you to always dress and look so that you will be served equally well both in a bank and in a bakery. Let's look at this phenomenon of unequal treatment of neatly and sloppily dressed people. If a person is unkempt, perhaps he believes that it is his own business. This is wrong. With his appearance, he demonstrates not only and not so much a disregard for himself, but disrespect for others. Those around him pay him the same. For example, I am always very pleased when a person comes to a meeting with me, be it a medical consultation or a psychological appointment, at least with his hair combed, I take this as a sign of respect. I am pleased, and this is certainly reflected in my work. So what should you look like to make the best impression? It all depends on the time, place and situation, we will talk about this in the following chapters. Now I will say what I think is the main thing. Inner calm, self-confidence, neatness and unpretentious, high-quality clothes that suit you will do their good work. But do not confuse true quality with snobbery and arrogance. A repulsive impression is made by a person who is superbly dressed and well-groomed, but who treats others arrogantly. Another one of the wisest philosophers of mankind, Schopenhauer, said: “Snobbery is the lot of average minds.” True quality cannot be flashy; it is calm and moderate. It happens that some particularly shocking people clearly go too far when it comes to appearance and reach grotesque forms. I think each of us can give more than one example from life when someone, trying to show their “high” income and status, flaunts expensive things and accessories. And if in the distant 80s these were “new Russians” with their finger-thick gold rings and crosses on top of tracksuits, now it’s a demonstration of expensive houses, cars, silicone charms and even, excuse me, Couture panties (when some rapper’s panties are visible from under his pants). You say, that this is shocking, and I remember the saying of the old woman Shapoklyak from the favorite children's cartoon about Cheburashka: “You cannot become famous for good deeds.” Well, to each his own. Some stand out due to their intelligence and refined manners, while others stand out due to their fashionable panties. Thank you for your attention!
