This topic will be useful to all those who are on the path to achieving personal integrity, which implies harmony of mind, feelings and body. It is the tradition of our culture and mentality to separate the mind from feelings and even punish the body in which these feelings, sometimes perceived as sinful or forbidden, arise. It is generally accepted that the supreme power of reason is undeniable and unshakable. If it were different, a person would not be able to exist at all, would not be able to realize himself, would not be able to achieve anything, would not be able to become what he became. It's like that. Yes, not really. Where then do the problems come from? Someone will say: from incorrect or erroneous thoughts and ideas. And then it’s enough to change the wrong ideas to the right ones and everything will become wonderful as if by magic. But, alas, miracles in this sense do not happen. You can live with your mind alone, but what kind of life is it if there are no feelings in it, if they are impoverished and put on a chain, or even under lock and key. Human nature—his desires, impulses, emotions, which are a process—cannot be stopped. They may not be manifested at the external level of behavior. On the inside, they will definitely make themselves known: in one case - with reproaches and self-complaints, disappointments and dissatisfaction, in the other - in a harsher way (self-torture, guilt, paralyzing shame, jealousy, self-abasement, etc.). It is customary to distinguish the levels of mind, emotions and body in human nature for educational purposes. In fact, a person is whole. And the body can be considered the home of the human soul. What happens to a person at the level of the mind will be reflected in the body in the form of certain sensations (heaviness, weakness, increased strength, inspiration, redness, etc.), which can be read as emotions. Identifying only with the mind (based on calculation, the search for benefits - no matter material or any other) a person develops a fragmented style of existence. That is, as he says, “good thoughts are me, but fears, doubts, envy, anxiety, anger are no longer me.” He artificially divides himself. This phenomenon in psychology is called split, dichotomy. But emotions contain colossal energy, which gives us strength for life and activity, love, hobbies and being in general. If you take all this away, what remains? Maybe thinking machines, computers that can only solve problems, but not the ability to feel, empathize, love, hate, cooperate... Self-expression through identifying the ego with some attractive image may seem like a weak substitute for the real thing, namely self-expression through creative activity . However, the power of the ego over behavior is so strong that the self-identified person perceives and experiences what is happening as reality. In most cases, problems arise when such expansion becomes excessive, that is, when his ego identifications cover up his lack of self-identification. The ego of a healthy person is grounded in the sensations of the body and identified with the bodily “I”. In this case, the main form of self-expression is creative life, and ego identifications are secondary. When identification with the body is weak and insignificant, then a person's identity is uncertain and his creative self-expression is blurred. Such a person, in a state of alienation from his bodily “I,” needs to look for identity and means of self-expression in ego identifications - in a person, status, personal myth, etc. We know what troubles this leads to. Any conscious act of self-expression is considered incomplete until it provokes a reaction from other members of the community. With a favorable reaction, a person receives an additional portion of satisfaction from his achievement. Negative reactions reduce satisfaction. A creative act that goes unnoticed usually causes a person to feel frustrated/dissatisfied. A writer is disappointed if his works are not read, an artist is upset if no one is interested in his work. Having an ego»?
