The danger of depression is that it suddenly weakens a person, knocks him out of the usual rhythm of life and can lead to suicide; against its background, addictions easily develop (alcohol, food-overeating/undereating, drugs), which only aggravate the problem. It is extremely difficult to get out of it on your own, if a person is depressed, there is a high probability that someone or something from his usual life brought him to this state (harmful influence of other people, difficult living conditions, constant negative thoughts, etc. .) A psychologist identifies the causes of depression, draws up an individual work program (in the office and independently), and also gives knowledge of what exactly has a positive effect on the psyche and what harms it. The core of depression is a feeling of helplessness. If with ordinary fatigue a short rest is enough for recovery, then here the state of apathy can last a very long time and the person needs to be specially led to an active life (sports, walks, time in company). It is for this reason that you cannot be alone when you are depressed; you need a psychologist who will monitor the patient’s condition, and you need loved ones who can distract you from melancholy, take you for walks, make you laugh, help with everyday life and when needed. In addition, in severe cases, with clinical depression, the patient may experience suicidal thoughts; in this case, you need to contact a psychiatrist in a specialized clinic, where conditions are created so that the person does not harm himself, because loved ones cannot always control his behavior. Where does the feeling of sadness and helplessness come from? A loved one, strong beliefs, a favorite activity - something very valuable that occupied a large place in the soul - something happened to it (disappointment, death, loss), and a huge space of the soul turned out to be a pain zone. What a lot of effort, emotion, and labor had been put into turned out to be crossed out. What things help? Everything that removes the feeling of helplessness and gives pleasure: sports, walks, humor, communication with animals, easy activities in the garden, etc. Joy is the force that restores and at the same time gives meaning to life, simple but tangible - just living and enjoying the little things. Imagine your pain as a hole in your soul and in order to close it, you need pleasant things, each such thing slowly heals (a relaxing massage, watching a comedy, going out into nature, buying something you have long wanted). You definitely need to praise yourself for what you do for yourself, treat yourself very carefully, with love and care, and never scold yourself. Bring all negative feelings towards yourself or others to a psychologist’s office, do not leave them in yourself, the psychologist will help you get rid of them, as well as work through them and direct them in a creative direction. A person does not always see the necessary outlets for his emotions, for example, often behind anger there is love, behind fear there is a desire to do something. People with depression may be prone to creativity, which also helps them get out of it. The main thing is not to overwork yourself and not to demand much from yourself. Remember, such a person’s condition is unstable, he has little strength, and needs to be taken care of. I will give the basic principles of treating depression. 1.Be surrounded by useful people, with whom you feel good (friends, psychologist). 2. If you have clinical depression with suicidal tendencies, be sure to go to the clinic and see a psychiatrist. 3.Alternate rest/with activity.
