What associations do you have when you hear the word Vologda? Well, probably Vologda oil, lace, surrounding residents, or maybe a song about Vologda, where there is a carved palisade! In fact, in Vologda there is not only this, but much more, which residents of big cities are accustomed to. Why not? There are many things, for example, there is no opportunity to qualitatively improve one’s qualifications as a psychologist. So we go, either to St. Petersburg or to Moscow, to gain new knowledge, experience, and just communicate with colleagues. Some people drive, but others can’t do it. And living between Moscow and St. Petersburg, we often find ourselves cut off from the professional mainstream. I was thinking something like this for the last six months until the idea was born, not without the support of friends from other cities. What if we held a conference right in Vologda ! And not only for psychologists, but for all specialists in helping professions! No! I didn’t let up - in general, for everyone who is interested! And speakers for the conference should be invited from Moscow and St. Petersburg and other cities! And off we go! All that was left to do was to bring this project to life. This is how it turned out in my life, or maybe I myself formed it this way, that many ideas remained in my head or on paper; I lacked the courage, perseverance, hard work, faith in yourself and... support. And then, the support of friends and family turned out to be such a force that things moved forward, and in fact, they went and went! On November 3-4, the 1st Interregional Conference for specialists in helping professions was held in Vologda, in which 70 people took part from 7 cities of Russia (Vologda, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yugorsk, Cherepovets, Sokol, Gryazovets, Sheksna village of the Vologda region). Among them are people of various professions: educational psychologists, clinical psychologists, doctors, speech therapists, social work specialists, mothers of various professions, volunteers of the Good People Foundation in Vologda. The Conference speakers conducted 7 master classes and seminars, 2 dialogue groups and 1 Playback Theater performance. These are statistics, some will say, yes, but behind them are people, specialists in helping professions. Helping is not always easy, especially if helping is your profession, your daily work. And the main tool of your work is you yourself, not only with skills, knowledge and skills, but also with special personality qualities that are so important in helping professions. One of the objectives of the Conference is to draw the attention of specialists to this tool... to yourself, to get to know with various techniques for working with stress, preventing burnout, breathing practices, working with the body... In addition, in helping professions, communication and interaction with colleagues, exchange of experience, mutual assistance and support are especially important. I think that our Conference was an excellent opportunity to fill this gap. It is no coincidence that I am writing about this; many colleagues shared that they experience separation from the professional community, loneliness, and do not have information about supervisory and intervisory groups. I think many participants were able to replenish this resource and received the information they needed. I am happy to think that the Conference took place, and as the participants shared, it was warm, open, necessary and useful. I invite you to join us in Vologda for the Interregional Conference next year, who knows, maybe by then it will become an All-Russian!
