Reflecting on the positive aspects of children's beauty contests, I did not find a single side that would influence children and the children's psyche from a positive side. Beauty is a category that should cause aesthetic pleasure. If we consider children as subjects capable of causing aesthetic pleasure, then only a smiling child with a smart facial expression and wide-open eyes will cause aesthetic pleasure in an adult who has already lost these beauties. But, looking at children, and children’s age is when they go to the pediatrician, it is defined as up to 14 years old, with a thick layer of makeup and a shocking hairstyle, it will not cause a smile of tenderness on the face of an adult. Unless, of course, this adult is a “cultural” pervert. Many “connoisseurs” of children’s beauty contests claim that the competition allows children to adapt well on stage, feel the audience, develop public speaking skills, etc. I completely agree - this is true. Only there are a sufficient number of ways to develop social skills, where there is no negative aspect that exists in such competitions. As a person grows up, he goes through certain stages of mental development. So, it is no coincidence that at the age of seven a child goes to first grade, and not at five or eight; at about the age of 12, a rather complex educational program begins, the mastery of which requires categorical thinking. No matter how much parents and some adults would like, a 5-year-old child cannot understand all the nuances of a beauty contest. It’s almost like showing a 7-year-old child pornography – the result will be psychological trauma, the consequences of which are very difficult to heal. When taking their child to a competition, a parent, and most often this is a mother, is guided by unconscious desires through the child to receive attention and everything that is due to the winner - typically hysterical behavior. It’s the same with dad, it’s all very interesting. For a father, a daughter is the ideal woman whom he would like to see next to him. Other men look at her, and dad gets pleasure from the thought - “others want my “woman”, but she belongs to me.” The main emphasis in the competition, no matter what nominations the organizers come up with, is on the external data of girls and boys. In fact, the figure and face are assessed, and only then the ability to sing, dance, read poetry, etc. For a child, acquiring the experience that only cute girls and boys are worthy of awards will give only one thing in the future - huge problems with self-acceptance and self-love, and will form a certain, demonstrative style of behavior in the future. And then this leads to long visits to a psychotherapist. That is, parents of such children must clearly understand what life goals they set for their children. It should also be remembered that there are only a few winners, and the majority of losers; in childhood, any defeats are experienced more acutely and leave a deeper mark on the soul. If you remove the cynicism and leave the view of a psychologist, then, in my opinion, it is adult uncles and aunts who embody their fantasies in children, bringing children to the catwalk as thoroughbred horses. It turned out to be somewhat evil, but in this matter it is impossible to do otherwise, because by raising each individual child, we thereby lay down the future of our country.
