My thoughts on panic attacks from observations of several recent cases. Panic attacks are often just a sign that a person has been restraining himself for too long. I kept my strong feelings to myself. It could be fear, horror, anger or rage. Or many others. But I will focus on these options for now. When, as a child, a person lived in an unsafe environment, where violence could be used against him at any moment, then as an adult, he continues to be afraid of violence, which he unconsciously “expects” from anyone. Look at that man passing on the other side of the street, look at those men who sit in a cafe and drink beer, look at that woman who speaks loudly on the phone, and so on. Often, attacks are provoked by certain flashback pictures - something that reminds about a traumatic event from childhood. And most often, people do not realize that it was these pictures that caused the panic attack. Sometimes these pictures are not from reality, but are born in a person’s head, that is, simply any thoughts. But he really doesn’t want to even think about it. Therefore, these thoughts “hit” the body in the form of symptoms of panic attacks or panic attacks. And in this case, fear and anger (as well as horror and rage) are interconnected. And here's how. When a person was a child and violence was used against him, he was scared and angry at the same time. But he was more frightened, so he “pushed” his anger deeper into himself. He could not allow himself to be angry with big and all-powerful people - his parents, or their surrogates, because he was physically dependent on them. His life directly depended on them. And this anger accumulated in the soul of this little child, and when he became an adult, it did not go away. And since this person chose not to notice the feelings of anger and rage in himself, the psyche “sent” these feelings to the next level - to the level of the body. In order to tell a person through the body that you don’t feel good, pay attention to how you don’t feel good! And it’s not enough just to see and recognize these “canned” feelings, you also need to give them free rein, “release” them, then relief will come. Frequent and detailed stories about your condition now and about your condition then to supportive and attentive people can help with this. One option is to go to a small therapy group.
